On Board 1, it was an all-India duel as GM Mitrabha Guha held WGM Nandhidhaa P V to a hard-fought draw in a strategic encounter. GM Daniel Howard Fernandez (England) continued his impressive form, defeating WGM Srija Seshadri (India) to stay among the leaders.

The highlight of the round came from FM Goh Zi Han (Singapore), who produced a stunning upset against GM Vignesh N R (India) after a blunder in time trouble.

Elsewhere, GM Deep Sengupta (India) overcame Charlton Mnyasta (South Africa), while FM Adireddy Arjun held IM Neelash Saha to a tense all-India draw.
