Inaugural Commonwealth Schools Chess Championship Begins in Kuala Lumpur

The inaugural Commonwealth Schools Chess Championship got off to a rousing start in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with 293 young players from across Commonwealth nations coming together to compete in this landmark championship.
The event was officially inaugurated with the ceremonial first move made by Mr. Bharat Singh, Chairman of the Commonwealth Chess Association along with Mr. Sanusi Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah, Deputy Chairman of CCA and President of Malaysian Chess Federation.
The championship marks an important new chapter for Commonwealth chess, bringing together young talents from across the Commonwealth to compete, learn and build friendships through the sport.
The Commonwealth Chess Association wishes all the players, officials and organisers a successful and memorable championship.
